Riptide interviews Jose Ugarte

Jose Ugarte, organizador do Peruvian Inka Challenge foi entrevistado pela Riptide Mag. Aqui vai as suas palavras com tradução para portugês:

"Este campeonato foi incrível. Tudo conspirou a ser como era.

No início nós não tinhamos sequer espaço para fazer um outro campeonato IBA, porque o calendário estava cheio. Após dois dias de ter um não como resposta, Jorge "Mutant" Saavedra, disse-me que o Shark Island Challenge foi retirado do calendário do IBA Tour. Então eu perguntei ao IBA novamente e tive um sim. Sendo Lima tão perto de Arica, todos viriam. E foi assim - Stewart, Botha, Hubbard, Hardy, Ben Player, Damian King, etc derrepente apareceu no olhos de todos. O groms não podia acreditar.

Então, vê-los (aos prós) competirem numa onda que não sabiam foi ainda mais emocionante. Sabendo que era uma boa onda e os melhores bodyboarders do mundo inteiro vinham surfá-la. Então, muita gente nunca viu na vida um pro bodyboarder enlouquecendo com as ondas. Os riders estavam com um alto desempenho.

Graças ao grande patrocinador, Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, para tornar tudo possível na nossa vida!
Espero ser capaz de fazer este evento a cada ano, cada vez melhor, e deixar todo o mundo saber que o Peru tem um grande potencial de Bodyboard, tem de entrar em contato com as pessoas certas.

"This contest was amazing. Everything conspired to be like it was.

In the begining we didn´t even have space to do another IBA contest because the schedule was full. After two days of having the negative as an answer, Jorge "Mutant" Saavedra, told me that the Shark Island contest was cancelled for the IBA Tour. Then I asked the IBA again and got a possitive answer.Being Lima so close of Arica, everybody would come. And it was just like that - Stewart, Botha, Hubbard, Hardy, Player, King, etc suddenly appeared at the eyes of everybody. The groms couldn´t believe it.

Then seeing them (the pros) competing in a wave that they didn´t even know was even more exciting. Plus knowing that is was a great wave also, and the best bodyboarders in the entire world were riding it. So many people never saw in life a pro bodyboarder going crazy with the waves. Bodyboarding in a high expression, they burned! (We think he means, "The riders were on fire with their high performance riding." - Ed.)

I hope to be able to make this event every year, better end better, and let everybody knows that Peru has a great potential for bodyboarding, you've just got to contact the right people.

Next stop of IBA: ACC (Arica Chilean Challenge)

A próxima paragem da IBA Tour vai ser no Chile para o Arica Chilean Challenge. O período de espera será entre os dias 29 de Julho a 10 de Agosto com um prize money de 20 mil dólares. Já conta com muitas presenças, entre eles os melhores bodyboarders do mundo, alguns deles são: Jeff Hubbard, Ryan Hardy, Damian King, Pierre-Louis Costes, Mitch Rawlins entre outros...

Jeff Hubbard wins IBA Peruvian Inka Challenge!

Jeff Hubbard ganhou o PIC (Peruvian Inka Challenge) numa final frente ao peruano Jorge Hurtado. Para destacar também a prestação dos Portugueses, principalmente o Manuel Centeno que ficou na 5ª posição que perdeu contra Oliver Herrera nos quartos de final.

Jeff Hubbard won the PIC (Peruvian Inka Challenge) in a final against the Peruvian Jorge Hurtado. Also to highlight the benefit of the Portugueses, especially Manuel Centeno who was in the 5th position has lost against Oliver Herrera in quarter finals.

3ª Etapa - Classificações (3rd Stage- Classifications)

Decorreu dia 25 de Julho nos Areais de Santa Bárbara a 3ª Etapa do Circuito Regional de Bodyboard. Com ondas razoáveis ao inicio e a enfraquecerem ao decorrer da prova por causa da maré cheia, não impossibilitou a vitória de Ricardo "Caveira" Ferreira, que na final com poucas ondas.

Ficam aqui desde já, as primeiras 4 classificações:

4º Miguel Furtado

Held on 25 July in the Santa Barbara's beach the 3rd Stage of the CRBO.In the begining tha waves were fun but with the course of the stage the waves were being worst because the flood tide,but not impossible due to Ricardo Ferreira in the final with a few waves to come.

Finalmente a Etapa está confirmada!! Será no Sábado dia 25 de Julho na Praia dos Areais de Santa Bárbara (Ribeira Grande). OS atletas terão de estar pelas 8:30h na sede para escolher o melhor pico para se realizar a prova.

A 3ª Etapa de Bodyboard foi adiada para amanhã (Domingo dia 12 de Julho)na praia da Amora, localizada em Ponta Garça. Se tiver ondas, o inicio deverá ser pelas 9:30/10h.

3ª Etapa do CRBO adiada. (3rd stage of CRBO postponed)

A 3ª etapa do CRBO foi adiada devido a uma nova entrada de swell que irá começar a entrar pelo meio/final da semana. A prova dessa vez não deve ser adiada outra vez, será quase de certeza feita ou Sábado ou Domingo, dependendo do swell e vento que entrar melhor nesses 2 dias.

The 3rd Stage of CRBO was postponed because of a new swell that will start entring in the island in the middle/final of this week. I'm sure this stage will not be again postponed because in this weekend, especaly Sunday, will have good conditions but the previsions can change, but we dont no if its going to be on Saturday or Sunday, depends of the wind and swell.
